Dive into the new single-line retro slot machine Grand Spinn from NetEnt.
Every slots fan has a particular style of game
that tends to draw their interest. Some like the modern design of
heavily animated video slots. Others go for a high number of
pay-lines, or better yet hundreds, if not thousands of ‘ways to win’
slots. Those people are going to hate NetEnt‘s newest release,
called the Grand Spinn Slot.
For the select few who are attracted to old-school slots – and by old-school, I mean you probably weren’t even alive in the days when this theme was common – you just might want to give it a shot. Grand Spinn is far from your typical modern-day slot machine. Sure, it’s got some popular features like multiplier wilds, symbol stacks and jackpot prizes, but its 1920’s art-deco motif and single payline arne’t for everyone.
Grand Spinn Retro Slot Machine
Now that you know this game’s most unique
feature – one single line to land winning combos on – if you’re
still reading, you obviously haven’t lost interest yet. Here’s two
more key facts today’s more educated slots fans will appreciate.
Grand Spinn has a 96.19% RTP, on par with today’s average online slot
machine payout percentages, and a high volatility, which translates
to infrequent wins, but respectable payouts when they hit.
Do I still have your attention? Alright then,
let’s see what else NetEnt’s creative development lab put into the
The imagery within the new Grand Spinn Slot is
exactly what you might expect from a retro design. The game’s 3×3
reels spin with 7s, watermelons, oranges, plums, cherries and bars,
valued highest to lowest in that order. But these fruit are so
artistically designed, you’d expect them to be served on the fine
china of a royal palace.
Three other symbols exist in the game. One is a
blank space, which does nothing. Next is the multiplier wild, taking
the place of other standard symbols to create a win. Last are jackpot
symbols, which can award the jackpot.
Multiplier wilds will increase the payout for a
win they are involved in by 2x. If two multiplier wilds appear on the
payline, they will combine to multiply the win by 4x. The game
suggest an 8x boost for lining up 3 wilds, but in reality, this pays
out a base rate of 20x the total bet size.
All symbols tend to appear in long lines of
stacks on each reel. This comes in especially handy due the nudge
Grand Spinn’s nudge feature is activated any
time a winning combination appears. It will nudge one reel downward
one position, if that reels next symbol is the same as those in the
winning combination. So, after the initial payout for a win, the reel
nudges, instigating another payout. This continues to happen until no
more nudge wins are possible.
If an up-arrow happens to randomly appear on a
reel during this feature, the reel it’s on will spin back up to the
first position of the stack, starting the nudge feature all over
again. This is what gives NetEnt’s new retro slot machine its high
Fixed & Progressive Jackpots
Grand Spinn comes in two versions – Grand
Spinn and Grand Spinn Superpot. For the most
part, the games are the same, except that the Superpot version also
contains a progressive jackpot – aka the Super Jackpot.
In the standard version, there are three fixed jackpots – the Mini, Midi and Mega, which pay out at 40x, 200x and 10,000x the bet size, respectively. In the Superpot edition, the first two fixed jackpots are the same, while the Mega is a progressive. However, it’s a local jackpot, not a wide area network, so don’t expect them too build to quickly.
To win any jackpot, the player must line up the
corresponding mini, midi or mega jackpot gem symbols on the game’s
single payline. This can be done naturally, or with the assistance of
the nudge feature.
