WIGs Celebrates the Women of Mobile Slots Maker Play’n Go
The online and mobile gambling industry holds several acclaimed award ceremonies each year to celebrate accomplishments within the industry. The Women in Gaming Awards (WIGs) is one such event, commending the female leaders of iGaming companies. Mobile slots maker Play’n Go is poised to collect after receiving 5 nominations for the 2017 WIGs.
This year’s WIGs are scheduled for May 12 at the luxurious Savoy Hotel in London, England. After holding its first awards ceremony in 2010, this year marks the 8th annual WIGs Awards. Nominations closed in late March, and the organization has announced its finalists for the upcoming event.
Toni Mills, Office Manager for Play’n Go’s Malta branch, received a nomination for the WIGs Employee of the Year. Lena Yasir, also a Manager in the mobile slot maker’s Malta office, has been nominated for the Leader iGaming category.
Another nomination was granted to the entire Play’nGo Account Management Team for WIGs Team of the Year award. The company also received nominations for Best Place to Work and the Diversity Award.
While Play’n Go’s commitment to hiring a diverse staff is evident, the company will have some stiff competition at this year’s WIGs. Other major iGaming companies have numerous nominations as well, including Aspers (5), Caesars (5), Mansion (5), LeoVegas (6), NetEnt (6), Kindred (7), IGT (10), Microgaming (10), and the most decorated nominee of all, Playtech (14).
Play’n Go Aims for Success at WIGs
“We are very pleased to have picked up so many nominations for this year’s Women in Gaming awards,” said Johan Törnqvist, who’s been the CEO of the Swedish-based mobile slots maker since 2011.
He went on to describe the company’s multiple finalist positions as a “testament to the great work all those nominated have put in for Play’n GO over the last few years.”
Törnqvist said Play’n Go doesn’t look at gender or ethnicity in its staff. “We reward all employees based on competency in their roles rather than any other factor and we strongly believe this is key to creating a dynamic, innovative working environment which has helped Play’n GO flourish since our inception.”
The mobile slots maker already has reason to celebrate. The company is just coming off the heels of an esteemed victory at the 2017 International Gaming Awards (IGA) ceremony in February. Play’n Go was bestowed with the coveted title of IGA Slots Provider of the Year.
